Frustrations

I'm STILL waiting on my books! I love their prices but I have been told in the past when the same thing happened that they don't have the "man power" to drop an e-mail to let you know when/if your order has been shipped. Hopefully tomorrow they will get here!

"Mouthing" didn't work. Not that Payton didn't think it was fun but its incrediblely hard to tell what someone is saying by mouthing the word....give it a try lol! We might still try this game though b/c "mouthing" a word is a step to communicating.

Therapy, tomorrow. I'll give an update on how it goes!

Don't you hate the waiting game? And as far as the mouthing goes, it may not be effective communication, but if P is *trying* to communicate that way, that's great, right? I hope your books come soon!!

Hi, I just found your blog. I am a second grade teacher with an (undiagnosed) student that hasnt spoken in school since preschool. How is Payton? Did you find anything to be successful on your end or modifications at school? I would love any advice you have.

It looks like you don't write here anymore, hope this reaches you.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am a 45 year old mother now, I was selectively mute from K trough 3rd grade. Then I found my passion, sports, which brought me out of my shell. Just know that kids feel pure terror in school. I can remember my teacher calling on me in class and words could not come out. I knew the answers I just couldn't speak them. I still have trouble in large groups of people but if I choose not to be in them that is ok. I have lived a full like and these kids will as well. Let them find a passion and they will blossom. If anyone wants info from me on what their child is going through you may contact me.

Thanks!!
